David Alan Kramer, 55, of Ypsilanti, Michigan, passed away at Arbor Hospice in Saline, Michigan on April 24, 2019 with his dear friends Greg and Sandy Erickson and his brother Michael at his side.

David was born June 12, 1963 in Chester, Montana, the son of Arnold and Rhonda Kramer. David graduated from Alliance, Nebraska High School in 1981 and graduated from Chadron State College in 1986.

David was self-employed as a dairyman in Nebraska and employed as a bookkeeper for Alpha Metal Finishing in Dexter, Michigan.

David loved the Lord Jesus dearly and was a thoughtful, kind and gentle man who genuinely cared for people throughout his life. David had a nice voice and sang his first congregational solo at the age of two.

All of his life, he had a love of history and genealogy, for the out of doors and agriculture in particular. He especially enjoyed working with draft horses and poultry, but his favorite animals were his dairy cattle.

David was known by many of his close friends as a generous man and was famous for always insisting on paying for his guest’s meals. Prior to his illness, he was always eager to lend a hand or offer assistance wherever it was needed. He compassionately cared for people in times of distress.

David was profoundly influenced by his friends in The Word of Life Community and deeply appreciative of their care and concern for him in his last days. David’s family is eternally grateful to Greg and Sandy Erickson and daughters Katie, Mary Sarah, Emily and Susan for their steadfast love and devotion, Deacon Jerry Holowicki, and the many other dear friends who visited David and provided care for him in his time of need.

Survivors include Arnold and Rhonda Kramer, Jonathan and Carmen Kramer (Henry), Michael, Andrew and Becky Kramer (Laura, Nathan, Kyle, Isaac, Jenna, Adam).

He was preceded in death by his brother Timothy in 2010.

A funeral service was held Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the First Presbyterian Church of Ypsilanti with Rev. Keith Geiselman and Deacon Jerry Holowicki officiating.

Burial followed at the Highland Cemetery in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The family received friends on Friday, May 3, 2019 at Janowiak Funeral Home in Ypsilanti, Michigan. A memorial service was held Sunday, May 5, 2019, at Golden Ours Convalescent Home chapel, Grant, Nebraska.
