Dennis Hastings

Dennis E. Hastings, 72, of Grant, Nebraska, passed away Saturday, Dec. 8, 2018, at his home. 

Dennis was born June 29, 1946, in Grant to Marven and Bernadine (Hilty) Hastings, as one of six children, Marvena, Dennis, Carol, Janet, Victor, and Billy. Dennis attended school in Elsie. He was a liver transplant recipient through the Gift of Life organization.

On May 31, 1991, Dennis married Darlene Heath.  Dennis and Darlene both attended college in 2004 at North Platte Community College graduating in May of 2008. Dennis gave the speech at graduation entitled “The Gift of Life” which centered around his experience of receiving his liver transplant.   

Dennis worked several years for the KC Cattle Company LLC.

Dennis loved playing pitch, fishing, hunting and spending time outdoors.  He spent countless hours walking pastures, which he came to know like the back of his hand. Dennis was a very hard working man who loved family more than anything. He also held a special place in his heart for his pets, showing them lots of affection.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents.

Dennis is survived by his wife, Darlene; and children Jobi (Draper) Palu, Jovina (Jake) Lanini, and Desmond Hastings; 15 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren; sisters, Marvena (Bob) Rongisch, Carol Lungrin, Janet (Terry) Dunlap all of North Platte; brothers, Victor (Taffy) Hastings of Ogallala, and Billy Hastings of North Platte; close friend Bella Raymondo from the Philippines; along with many close friends and relatives.

 A memorial has been established in his memory for later designation by the family. Condolences can be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com.

Funeral Services will be Saturday, Dec. 15, 2018, at 2 p.m. at New Life Fellowship Church in Grant with Pastor John Goodell officiating. 

Burial will be in the Elsie Cemetery.

Visitation will be Friday, Dec. 14 from 1-6- p.m. at Bullock-Long Funeral Home in Grant.
