Dennis Harold Newth, 76, of Las Cruces, New Mexico, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, June 28, 2018.

Dennis was born Nov. 25, 1941 to Harold and Evelyn (Witthuhn) Newth. He grew up on the family farm near Venango, Nebraska. He graduated from Venango High School in 1960. He married in 1961 and raised his three children in the Denver metro area.

He worked for United Airlines since 1963 as a radio and electronics technician. He always arranged to return home every year to help his dad and brother with tuning up the farm equipment and helping with the family wheat harvest. He retired from United in 1997, after more than 34 years of service there.

Over the years, he enjoyed watching college football (Huskers!), summer fishing trips with his brother, Don Newth and cousin Gary Newth and family at Lake McConaughy. He loved music of all sorts and dancing. After retiring, he spent time traveling and then relocated to Las Cruces, where he worked for a few years as a contractor performing fire inspections on Qwest cell towers around the state.

He enjoyed travel, Western Art and Indian lore, golf and target shooting with friends, and always enjoyed sharing his lifelong love of stories, books and reading.

Dennis was predeceased by both his parents and his brother, Donald Newth.

He is survived by his sister, Janeen Dwinell (Richard) of Harper Heights, Texas and his three children, Denise Cootware (Michael) of Westminster, Colorado; Dale Newth (Nannette) of Northglenn, Colo.; and Michelle Huston (Greg) of Seguin, Texas and three grandchildren: Jessica Rosasco, Joshua Cootware and James Cootware and five great-grandsons.

Memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, July 28, at 2 p.m. at the Venango Community Church, 112 Pennsylvania Ave, Venango, with internment of his ashes at the Venango Cemetery.

A memorial has been established in his memory. Memories and condolences may be shared at bullocklongfuneralhome.com.
