Destry Wallin

Destry Kirk Wallin, 47, of Imperial, Nebraska, passed away Thursday, Aug. 17, 2017 at Haxtun, Colorado.   

Destry was born June 26, 1970, in Grant, Neb., to Garry Wayne and Patricia Ann (Polly) Wallin. 

Destry attended District 66 grade school in Chase County. He graduated from Chase County High School in 1989 and furthered his education at Wayne State College and Southeast Community College in Lincoln. 

Destry owned and operated Wallin Drywall for over 17 years. He did construction work in numerous places in Colorado, Kansas and Nebraska. Destry was known for his incredible work ethic running his business. His warm smile and giving heart were apparent every single day.  

During his life Destry enjoyed his car collection, hunting, fishing, collecting sports cards and coins. He adored his nieces and nephews and made frequent stops to play and bring them candy and treats. 

Destry was baptized as a baby at the Wauneta Methodist Church in Wauneta. He accepted Jesus as his Savior when he was a child attending bible school. As a teenager, he was baptized at the Westside Church of Christ. 

Destry was preceded in death by his father, Garry Wallin; four infant sisters, Melissa Ann, Michelle Ann, Kelly Lynn and Monica Ann; Grandparents, Mary and Olan Wallin, Russell and Eva Polly of Wauneta.

Destry is survived by his Mother, Pat Wallin and her fiancé Dennis Preston; brothers Greg Wallin and wife Sherry of Manzanola, Colo., Jeff Wallin and wife Marilee of Imperial, Steve Wallin and wife Charlotte of Imperial, and sister Shawna Rusher and husband Jeff Rusher of Imperial. 

Nieces: Makenna Wallin, Riley and Hayley Rusher, Matalie and Kadence Wallin. 

Nephews: Justus, Dakota and Kalen Wallin, Eddie Rusher and Mason Wallin.

Services were held on Aug., 23, at 10:30 a.m., at Imperial Berean Church with graveside services at Mount Hope Cemetery, Imperial, Nebraska, with Pastor Matt Maxwell officiating. A memorial has been established in his name.

Liewer Funeral Home entrusted with arrangements.
