Dolores Aneta Sides, 90, of Grant, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, March 26, 2019, at Golden Ours Convalescent Home in Grant.

Dolores was born Jan. 24, 1929, in Wallace to Ralph and Delphia (Kenney) Clough. She attended Wallace Public Schools and was in scholastic and sports events as a drum majorette and high school cheerleader. 

She did ballet, toe and tap dancing for local events and upon graduation was sponsored by the American Legion to enter Miss America Beauty Pageant and won eligibility to compete in Lincoln. She attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and after which she worked for accountants in North Platte.

Dolores married Dan OBrien and had two daughters. Later she married Wayne Sides in Grant and was the bookkeeper for Producers Grain Company and the Grant Co-op Exchange. She was an accounts receivable clerk at the Perkins County Hospital for 23 years. 

She enjoyed people and working, so she worked part-time in the corn harvest and fertilizer department at the co-op. She then worked at ASC in Ogallala doing electrical check until retiring at the age of 79 to spend time with her family and pursue hobbies.

She was active in the United Methodist Church in Wallace and Grant. Her love was children, grandchildren, and family. She supported her girls in Girl Scouts, 4H and school activities in college and beyond. 

She had also served at one time as secretary of the local bloodmobile, board president of Economy Booster Extension Club, president of the American Legion Auxiliary and belonged to the Tuesday night bridge club. She also led water exercises at the Goodall Recreation Center in Ogallala and led exercise classes at the Grant Senior Center. 

She made beautiful pheasant feather flowers and did needlepoint pictures as keepsakes for her children and grandchildren.

Dolores was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Wayne; half brother, Lloyd Sparks and sister-in-law, Mildred Clough.

She is survived by two brothers, Duane (Doris) Clough of McCook and Ward (Pauline) Clough of Otis, Colo.; two daughters, Teresa Jo (Terry) Ochsner of Vancouver, Wash., and Betty G. Sides of Grant; four grandchildren, Dr. Adam (Janice) Ochsner of Rockville, Md., Andrew Ochsner of Vancouver, Wash., Dr. Jennifer (Dr. Michael Gilbert) Ochsner of Camas, Wash., and Zachary Sides (Dr. Kaylene Christensen) of Grant; four great-grandchildren, Henry Gilbert and twins Katherine and Olive Gilbert of Camas, Wash., and Ethan Ochsner of Rockville, Md.

A memorial service will be Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 10:30 a.m. at the Grant United Methodist Church with Pastor Lorri Kentner officiating. Interment of cremains will be in the Morning View Cemetery at Wallace.
