Edith (Edi) Kay Mathiesen, 71, of Wallace, Nebraska, passed away at her home, Nov. 1, 2018. 

Edith was born Dec. 19, 1946, in Sheridan, Wyoming to Lynn and Shirley Bostic. 

She graduated from Mid-West High School in 1965, and then attended business college in Billings, Montana. She was working at Lou Talbert’s when she met Tom, and they were married on June 4, 1968 in Casper, Wyo. 

Tom and Edi started their marriage near Alcova, Wyo. where Tom worked for the Sanford Ranch. Edi learned to cook for a crew and be a ranch wife. Together they worked at various ranches; in Casper, Grand Junction, Kadoka, South Dakota, and Ellensburg, Washington, having four kids along the way; Carrie, Jennie, Brice and Sandy. 

Edi loved the mountains and working along side of Tom, feeding hired men and cattle crews. Edi volunteered as a Girl Scout and 4-H leader and contributed to many school activities. 

After moving to Wallace, Edi was employed at Golden Ours Nursing home in Grant. She worked as a CNA as well as in the Activities Department.  Edi loved the residents she worked with and made wonderful friends. She was a member of the Wallace American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. 

Edi loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchild and all children. She especially loved holding babies. Everyone was welcome in Edi’s kitchen, she had a talent to cook and loved all who entered their home. She loved to share stories and she never met a stranger.

Preceding her in death were her parents; her brother, Mark Madding, and her son, Brice Thomas Mathiesen, brother-in-law, Edward Mathiesen.

Surviors include her husband, Thomas Jean Mathiesen of Wallace; children, Carrie (Roger) Clairmont of Ronan, Montana, Jennie (Kelly) Marquardt of Dickens, Sandy (Dustin) Wilkie of Malcolm, Neb.; grandchildren, Kelsey (Karl) Farrand, Lindsay (Kevin) Flint, Courtnee Clairmont, Rachel (Jackson) Smallcomb, John (Ellie) Marquardt, Natalie Marquardt, Faith Marquardt, Bricen Wilkie, Brenna Wilkie, Turner Wilkie, and Tatum Wilkie; great-grandchild, Rance Farrand; siblings, Ellen (Cookie) Underwood of Casper, Wyo., George Madding of Sheridan, Wyo., and Edna Will of Gillette, Wyo.; sister-in-law, Jill Mathiesen (Richard) Schroder; niece, Linda Sutrina; nephew, Brett Bobbitt; nieces, Shelly Hytrek, Amy Peterson, Bambi Fritz, Tristin Acuna; nephews, Richard and Robert Madding; and many cousins and friends.

Funeral services were Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2018 at the Wallace Community Church with Pastor Bob Witt officiating. Burial was in the Morning View Cemetery south of Wallace.

Bullock-Long Funeral Home of Grant was in charge of arrangements.
