George M. Morris, 83

George M. Morris, 83, of Doniphan passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 6, 2026.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Doniphan. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. until service.  Pastor Tyler Hauptmeier will officiate.

All Faiths Funeral Home is entrusted with arrangements. Memorials are suggested to the family for future designation.

George was born on October 31, 1942, in Belgrade, NE, son of Oscar and Louise (Nave) Morris.

George graduated from Perkins County High School with the class of 1961. He earned his associate degree from McCook Junior College and received his bachelor’s degree from Kearney State College as he began his career with the Nebraska State Patrol in 1967.

On June 19, 1965, he married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Johnson. They made their home in Grant before moving to Grand Island in 1967. They found their home in Doniphan in 1980.

George retired from the Nebraska State Patrol after 26 years of service. During his career he was an advocate for Safety Education and taught several programs to promote bike safety, seatbelt safety and preventing drug abuse.  After retirement, George kept busy by working at a local physical therapy office as a therapy technician, serving on the ESU 9 board and volunteering for Teammates.

George was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Doniphan and served as a church elder for over 30 years. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and photographing wildlife. George was an accomplished wood carver.  His creations included wildlife, faces and figurines of all types as well as Christmas santas.

George is survived by his wife, Margaret Morris of Doniphan; children, Jeff Morris of Ayr, NE and Jody (JJ) Granstrom of Holstien, NE; grandchildren, Samantha (Victor) Costa, Allison Granstrom and Max (Lauren) Granstrom; great-granddaughter, Marianne Granstrom; sister, JoAnn (Darrell) Ahrens of Grant; numerous extended family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant brother.
