Jacob “Jake” Wayne Sinner, 55, of Grant, Nebraska and formerly of Lyman, Neb., died Friday, Nov. 16, 2018 at Regional West Medical Center in Scottsbluff, Neb., after a hard fought battle with cancer.

Jake was born to Edward and Donna (Hort) Sinner on Aug. 5, 1963 in Bridgeport, Neb. Jake was the second of five children. He was a fun-loving child who was quick-witted and always had a smile.

Jake attended Morrill Elementary and then Lyman High School. Jake was athletic, and enjoyed playing football and track. He graduated from Lyman High School in 1982 and then earned a bachelor’s degree in psychology from Chadron State College.

Jake married Crystal Knot in 1996 in Scottsbluff and their son, Kaden Jacob, was born to this union. Jake enjoyed working the soil and spent most of his adult life working for various farmers across the state. The past 12 years Jake was employed by Malmkar Farms in Grant.

Jake had a great sense of humor and always had a joke to tell or something funny to share. He was ornery and a creative prankster. He enjoyed woodworking and was a Husker fan, but mostly, Jake loved spending time with his family. Jake was a proud and devoted father who made his son his top priority.

Jake’s world revolved around Kaden, and he encouraged and supported him wholeheartedly. Jake was also a loving son, brother and uncle. He had a clever imagination and surprised his nephews and nieces with “unique” gifts. Jake was kind-hearted, cared about others, and willing to help when he could.

Jake will be dearly missed by his son, Kaden of Grant; mother, Donna Sinner of Morrill; father, Ed Sinner of Lyman; brothers, Eddie (DeeDe) Sinner of Morrill, Jon (Kim) Sinner of Bondurant, Iowa and Dale Sinner of Lyman; sister, Lisa Descharme of Gering, Neb.; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and special friends.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents.

A celebration of life was held Monday, Nov. 26, 2018 at Grant Evangelical Free Church with Pastor Russ Gaar officiating.

Inurnment was to follow at Mitchell City in Mitchell, Neb.

Cremation has taken place in accordance with his wishes.
