On June 24, 2021, Kevin Michael Turner, 55, died at his home in Garden City, Kansas after a long battle with cancer. He was born March 28, 1966 in Denver, Colorado to Toryal and Ellowyne (Green) Turner. Kevin attended elementary and middle school in Denver before he moved to Grant, Nebraska to attend high school. Kevin enjoyed playing football, basketball, and was involved with band and drama.

On August 2, 1986, Kevin married his high school sweetheart Lynda Martinson. Kevin attended UNL and Kearney State College before he moved to Garden City in 1989. He worked several jobs while attending school and graduated from Fort Hays State University in May 1995. He spent 10 years working for the Garden City Electric Department before he moved to Sunflower Electric.

Kevin was a member of Garden Valley Church in Garden City. He was an avid reader, an avid Denver Broncos fan, and loved his dogs. He also enjoyed playing solitaire and sudoku, golfing, his Harley Davidson, cooking, and very much enjoyed spending time with his family.

Kevin is survived by his wife Lynda; his sons Donathon “DJ” of Lawrence and Avery of Wichita; his sisters Karen Reef of Brighton, Colo., and Brenda Addy and husband Roger Hickey of Wiggins, Colo.; and his brother Dewey Turner and wife Paula of Brighton, Colo. He has 13 nieces and nephews; 20 great nieces and nephews; and 14 great-great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents Toryal and Ellowyne Turner; his grandparents Roger and Ruth Green; and his brother-in-law Tom Addy.

Memorial services for Kevin Turner were held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, June 28, 2021 at Garden Valley Church in Garden City, Kansas with Rev. Steve Ensz officiating. Per Kevin’s request, his body will be cremated after the ceremony and a private family burial will take place at a later date. The family suggests memorials given to St. Catherine Hospice or to Garden Valley Church, both in care of the funeral home. Condolences may be given at garnandfuneralhomes.com.
