Marita L. Lundvall, 85 of Wallace, Nebraska, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Centennial Park Retirement Village in North Platte. 

Marita was born Jan. 5, 1934 at Wallace to Ruby and Flotow Phelps. Her dad worked construction so the family moved numerous times the first 10 years of her life. At that time her family returned to Wallace and that’s where she spent the rest of her life.

On May 24, 1952, Marita was united in marriage to Dean Lundvall. They celebrated 59 years together before Dean passed away in 2011. They made their home on a farm south of Wallace.

Marita was a member of the United Methodist Church in Wallace where she shared her faith and set many good examples through service to her church and community.

Her love of sewing produced many special quilts for family and friends. She also made numerous quilts for missions. She was always willing to share her ideas.

Marita was preceded in death by her husband, Dean; her parents; mother-in-law, Violet Lundvall; father-in-law, Glen Lundvall; great-granddaughter, Morgan Moore; brother, Garry Phelps; brothers-in-law, Don Lundvall and Don Young.

She is survived by her children, Rick, Vicky (Wally) White, and Connie Thompson, all of Wallace; nine grandchildren, Misty Durfee, Melony (Jared) O’Keefe, Myron Lundvall, Shane (Starleen) Moore, Jeremiah (Laura) Moore, Miles (Ashley) White, Missy (Louis) Bautistia, Chris (Samantha) Thompson, Jenny (Tim) Schweitzer; 20 great-grandchildren; brother, Darrel (Peggy) Phelps of Grand Junction, Colo.; sister, Luana (Don) Cross of Munds Park, Ariz.; sisters-in law, Jeanette Phelps of North Platte, Donna Lundvall of Grant, Dorothy Young of Holdrege; and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held Saturday, May 18, 2019 at the Wallace United Methodist Church with Pastor Charles Nyamakope officiating. Burial was in the Wallace Morning View Cemetery.
