Nancy Lee (Chapman) Hoagland, 80, of Ogallala, Nebraska, passed away on Feb. 16, 2019 at Perkins County Health Services in Grant.

Nancy was born March 29, 1938 to Roger and Alberta (Bennett) Chapman in Scottsbluff, Neb. She grew up in the Scottbluff area and graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1956.

On March 31, 1956 she married Lyle Delbert Hoagland in Rapid City, S.D. They lived in the Scottsbluff area for several years and eventually moved to Ogallala. This is where they raised their three children, Rebecca, Roger and Brenda.

In 1969, Nancy was diagnosed with cancer, she fought hard and was proud to be a 50-year survivor.

Nancy had been employed by TRW/ASC for over 32 years. She also cooked at the Head Start Preschool and Welcove Assisted Living. For over 10 years she was a cashier at ALCO.

After retiring she joined the RSVP group of Ogallala, where she helped out at the Kenfield Gallery. She received recognition for 15 years of service in 2018. She loved visiting with people who came and loved and loved hearing where they came from and where they were traveling.

Nancy enjoyed Husker Football and attended her first game with her son, Roger. Fall weekends were spent visiting with family about the games or attending the activities of her grandchildren.

Decorating for the holidays was something she truly enjoyed. One holiday over and it was time to decorate for another. During the Christmas season she would be found baking for those who would stop by to see her decorations. Days were spent making sure everything was just right. A buffet full of candies, cookies and breads would be a regular part of her holidays. For many years she was Mrs. Claus at the Fantasy Land Display in Ogallala.
