Rick Stickley, 55, of Madison Lake, Minnesota, passed away unexpectedly on Oct. 24, 2017 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, Minn.

Ricky was born April 9, 1962 in Grant, Nebraska to Gerald and Shirley (Smith) Stickley. 

He was baptized and confirmed at Zion Lutheran Church of Big Springs, Neb., where he grew up, played football and basketball and graduated with the class of 1981.

Rick farmed in Nebraska for a few years until the early 1990s when he came to Minnesota. 

On Oct. 2, 1993 he married Bonnie Kopischke at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Janesville, Minn. Together they raised their two children in North Morristown, Minn.

He began his career as a welder and eventually became a life-long truck driver, helping numerous companies over the years.

Rick was active and proud to be with the North Morristown Fourth of July Celebration, having worked in the hamburger stand for over 20 years. He also spent many years mowing lawn and tending to the Concordia Cemetery of North Morristown.

His hobbies were anything to do with the Nebraska Cornhuskers! Rick was a dedicated and loud fan! He enjoyed the outdoors, chopping wood and camping with the family. 

Recently, while in Madison Lake, he was known for making some of the best cinnamon rolls for numerous events.

He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, dedication and love of his family, knowledge he passed on and being a loyal Cornhusker!

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Gerald Stickley; sister-in-law, Betty Gilchrist and nephew, Joshua Gilchrist. 

Rick is survived by his wife of 24 years, Bonnie; daughter, Amyber (Zach) Morrow of Mankato, Minn.; son, Devick Stickley (schooling in Sheldon, Iowa) of Madison Lake; mother, Shirley Stickley of Grant, Neb.; siblings, Paula (Dale) Sparks, Jeff Stickley and Mark (Debi) Stickley; with many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, Oct. 28, 2017 at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Janesville.

An additional funeral service was held on Monday, Oct. 30 at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Ogallala, Neb.

Interment was held in the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery of Ogallala.

The Starkson & Steffel Funeral Home ~ Arnoldt Chapel of Janesville was in charge of arrangements in Minnesota.

Bullock-Long Funeral Home of Grant was in charge of arrangements in Nebraska.
