Theron W. Lee, 87

Theron W. Lee, 87, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Baptist Health Floyd Hospital. He was born on November 24, 1938, in Holyoke, Colorado, to the late Dewey and Lillie Lee.
Theron grew up on the Dewey Lee Farm, 13 miles south of Madrid, Nebraska. As a boy, he famously rode his pony to Country School District 77 until the 7th grade, eventually finishing school in Madrid. The youngest of six siblings, he spent his early years farming and ranching alongside his father. On December 29, 1957, he married Deloris Day, a union blessed with four children: Rodney, Kelly, Randall, and Kevin. He later remarried Jeane Worthington and moved to Indiana, where he remained for the rest of his life. In his later years, he was a resident of Green Valley Care Center in New Albany, Indiana.
A man of the outdoors, Theron was an avid fisherman and spent many years trap shooting clay pigeons and pheasant hunting. He carried a reputation as a hard worker throughout his entire life. Though he was strong-willed and faced various hardships, he held a deep love for his family and his dogs. Whenever his children would call him at the nursing home, he always closed the conversation by saying, “I send my love to you all.”
He is survived by his children, Rodney S. Lee (Lois) of Sterling, CO, Kelly J. Hoelting (Kurt) of Lawrence, NE, Randall Lee (Li) of Honolulu, HI, Kevin B. Lee (Marilyn) of Bennington, NE, Theron “TJ” Lee, and Justin T. Lee.
Theron’s legacy continues through his many grandchildren: Amanda Lee (John Demaria), Kayla Spirk (Ben), Kelsey Prochaska (Jesse), Bailey Lee (Raegan Nakama-Lee), Cailey Lee, Caleb Lee, and Savannah Lee. He was also the proud great-grandfather of Anthony and Mya Demaria; Noah and Hannah Spirk; Parker, Cameron, and Hayden Prochaska; and Brixton Lee.
Theron was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Evelyn, Kenneth, Dale, Bernard, and Harold Lee.
Following his wishes, there will be no funeral services, and he will be returned home to Grant, Nebraska, for a private burial of cremains in the Grant Cemetery, where his parents and three of his siblings also reside.
