When Hurricane Charley went through Florida and destroyed the family home, she moved to Tyler, Texas, where she lived until her daughter remarried. Then she moved to Houston, Mo., where she lived in senior housing and made many friends.

It was there that she was diagnosed with kidney failure, went on the transplant list, and began dialysis until she received a new kidney in October 2011.

Later Ginger moved to Cabool to live in the High-rise where another group of friends soon grew. She was active in the Houston United Methodist Church and many other activities in the High-rise in Cabool.
