Applications available for Youth Advisory Committee; due Sept. 1

As shared in recent articles, there has been a great discussion from Perkins County students about what they would like to see in Perkins County. The final topic of focus from the youth involved in our recent Youth Conversation Meeting was that of the lack of ability for youth to participate in community organizations and groups.

The youth that attended the meeting felt as though they had many opportunities to be involved in groups within the school, but not as much within community organizations. They wished to be able to have the opportunity to show their leadership elsewhere.

As a first step in helping the youth achieve this goal, the Perkins County Community Foundation Fund (PCCFF) has taken this feedback and organized an opportunity for high school 9th-12th grade students to apply to be a youth representative of the Fund Advisory Committee (FAC). Applications to be a youth representative are now available by contacting a FAC member or by checking the social media pages for the PCCFF. Applications are due September 1st in order to get the youth projects moving forward! The PCCFF encourages other community organizations to provide our youth with other leadership opportunities within Perkins County.

The PCCFF has appreciated the feedback and input from Perkins County’s youth over recent months. The FAC looks forward to continued conversations, youth projects and the bright future of Perkins County, Nebraska!
