Charlie Kirk inspired us all, may we carry on his commitment to truth
Dear Editor,
Wow, what a few weeks it has been. If you were not able to take in the Charlie Kirk services, I would strongly recommend doing so. There is something for everyone to learn from Charlie.
He was an incredible human being with such a deep connection to the youth of this world. Charlie did not hate anyone; he simply wanted to hear the other side and shed light where there was darkness. And in many ways, he was winning.
One of the most admirable qualities about Charlie was that he never silenced anyone. Instead, he handed you the microphone and gave you a platform to speak. That is rare in today’s world. Too often, when those in power think you have something to say they do not agree with, they employ censorship—whether by imposing time limits or by refusing to let you speak at all.
Charlie was very much against dishonesty, and he was gifted at exposing it. He reminded us that truth matters, and that we as citizens should never grow comfortable with deception or half-truths. It appears we have put up with things we should not have to for far too long.
Let this be a turning point. Let us commit to making this the best country it can be, strong, honest, and free. This applies from the very top of government all the way down to our local government. If we follow Charlie’s example of civil discourse, truth-telling, and courage, we can honor his legacy in the best way possible.
Sincerely,
Marlin Wendell
