Council member encourages mayoral candidates

Dear Editor,

The purpose of this letter is to ask YOU (if you are a citizen of Grant) to please consider carefully if you would be willing to seek the office of mayor.  

Mike Wyatt has been an outstanding mayor for our town for many years and his leadership has been instrumental in keeping our fiscal affairs and infrastructure in outstanding condition.  

The most recent audit of our city’s financial condition drew a very complimentary review from the auditor.  However, due to ongoing health concerns, Mike has decided not to file for re-election.  

In view of this, I am asking you, as a citizen of our town, to consider serving your fellow citizens by stepping up and running for the office of mayor.  A good, competitive slate of candidates will hopefully foster some good debate among the candidates and some careful thought among the voters.   

The last date for a non-incumbent to file for election is March 1.  The job is challenging but rewarding and is a big commitment.  If you have a heart for service and are willing to provide a steady hand to help guide our town forward, please give serious thought to accepting this challenge.
