Genuine act of kindness

Letter to Editor

During the later part of November I made a visit to Grant and one of my first stops is visiting the cemetery where my parents, brother and sister are buried.

Sometime back we replaced flowers in the vases with solar lights and to my dismay they were missing.

Since that time, my daughter received a message asking “have you checked the lights at the cemetery?” The message ended with us learning that these special people had replaced all three solar lights!

This couple does not know me personally, but they do remember my dad, Howard Bechtel, when he was Perkins County Sheriff. Our thanks goes out to Phil and Ann Calkins for their genuine act of kindness.

We have not seen the lights as of writing, but we plan to make it over to Grant in the near future and I am sure we will enjoy our time visiting.

We are thankful for their kindness and it goes to show there are many more good people than the other kind.
