Honoring those behind the scenes who keep our community thriving

Something Special

Some of the most important work in our community happens quietly, often unnoticed. From the members of the Tree Board and Library Board to the Cemetery Board, Chamber of Commerce, Booster Club, Youth Arts Council, the museum, and the art gallery, the list goes on and on and on....

Countless volunteers dedicate their time and energy to make Grant and Perkins County a better place to live.

These efforts are often thankless, yet they are the backbone of our community. These volunteers put in the hours, the sweat, and sometimes even the tears, to ensure local projects succeed, events run smoothly, and our shared spaces are cared for. Their work doesn’t always make headlines, but it makes a difference.

If your tree needs some care, the Tree Board has probably noticed. Looking for something to do on a Friday night? Consider visiting the Art Gallery.

We are so fortunate to live in a community full of “doers,” without whom, where would we be? This summer would have most likely been spent in that old pool for starters...

There are countless ways to get involved, contribute and make a difference - I encourage everyone who lives here to do so. Find the thing that inspires you and get to it.

To all the volunteers giving their time, energy, and care, thank you. Your dedication does not go unnoticed. It is part of what makes Grant and Perkins County a community we are proud to call home and what makes our community truly “something special.”
