January 6 hearings do have a critical purpose

Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor,

I had some trouble with the recent article by the editor concerning the January 6 hearing. The importance of addressing what happened on January 6 is critical for our nation.  An investigation is necessary concerning the election and the storming of the capital.

Right now, I believe that our country is at war between Democrats and Republicans. We need to recognize our differences and come to terms at solving our nation’s problems. I pray that this one time in history will be the last time an insurrection of our capitol will happen. I don’t believe this is a time to “beat up on Republicans” as we as citizens of the United States watched in horror at what took place on January 6.

Yes, we are “drowning under the weight” of what’s happening with gas prices and the economy.  But to say that Democrats are “showboating” an event in Washington D.C. is not necessarily true. I feel that January 6 was a serious event and we must get to the root of what caused this or we will have a civil war in this country.  I hope we forget about the political arena and get down to the fact that we are all in this together, Democrats and Republicans.  This is our country and we need to protect such a horrific event from ever happening again.

Finally, we should forget the political agenda for once and when the next election rolls around, let’s look at the man or woman and not the party.  We should vote for the best candidate who will stand up for this country’s ideals.
