Letter to the Editor: Vote for the pool bond

Dear Grant taxpayers,

As a former city taxpayer, I wanted to visit about the importance of the city pool in my views.

As a mother of a former lifeguard and of two swim team participants, the pool was a big part of our lives when the kids were young.

Many memories were made when Michael would take Laura to the pool after lunch. They would get to stay all afternoon and had to be home by the time I got back from work. They would meet friends and play for hours.

We did swim team for many years! And made many more memories. I can’t tell you how important those memories are to me now.

It made my day to be able to cheer on the many kids who spent their Saturdays with us. The look on a kid’s face when they realized they beat their time they swam the week before was priceless.

The pool is a large part of many of our community’s summer activities and it is hard to see it in the shape it is today. You as taxpayers can change that!

I know it is asking a lot but with pledges, donations and grants I don’t think the full bond will be needed. But just think of all the memories you will be a part of!

I have visited with the Imperial City Clerk about the cost after they got their new pool. There really wasn’t a huge difference in price of maintenance, because of the efficiency of the new pool. Loss of water maintenance of the filter system are taken care of by the upgrade.

Please vote Nov. 6 for the bond for a new city pool and be a part of the future memories of many kids.
