Nebraska’s greatest asset is its people, especially in Grant

Letter to the Editor

Dear Editor:

Nebraska has many strengths. We, who call Nebraska home, know it. And sometimes we experience Nebraska at its best first-hand.

I visited Grant recently to attend a meeting. I needed stamps so I stopped at your Post Office. I also had some letters to mail. Barb greeted me with a smile and sold me the stamps. I asked her if I had missed the mail drop and she told me I had. Before I could respond, she offered to take my letters with her and mail them in Ogallala on her way home. That way, they would still go out with today’s mail, she told me. I was momentarily shocked by this act of kindness. People aren’t typically so nice to strangers. Correction: They are in Grant and they are throughout Nebraska.

I would suggest that Nebraska’s greatest asset is its people. I know it’s true in Grant.
