PCCFF Update: Youth representatives give more insight into recent survey

As we shared in last week’s article, the Perkins County Community Foundation Fund recently completed a survey with Perkins County High School youth. After the results were returned, the Fund Advisory Committee (FAC) wanted to continue exploring the thoughts of the youth in greater detail. In order to do this, the FAC held a Youth Conversation meeting with several youth representatives from each class in order to learn more about their views of Perkins County. 

Discussion topics of the evening included, “Where do you see yourself in 10 Years?" as well as, “What does your dream community look like?” The youth described people of their dream community as involved, neighborly, active and generous. They also said that they would like to see more restaurants, establishments that allow people to spend time together, and recreation centers. In addition to these comments, great discussion arose about the type of employment available within Perkins County. The representatives would love to be able to see more opportunities to be involved within the arts as well as an increase in available mental health services in the area.
