Public, economic support needed for new nursing home effort

Dear Editor:

I wanted to give you and our supporters some news on our continued mission to restore nursing home care services to Perkins County.

Our articles of incorporation are approved by the State of Nebraska for our new nonprofit corporation—Western Sky Community Care Center, Inc. This will be the name and operations for the new nursing home. Our LLC (Our GoldenHours) will still be involved as the holder of the nursing bed licenses.

As you know, this past Tuesday, Aug. 23, our group signed a purchase agreement, approved by the Perkins County Health Services Board, to purchase (for $1) the approximately 9.7 acres of land (commonly known as the Frederick Land) in the city limits of Grant for our new nursing home. The closing will be late October or early November.

Next up is our continued 501c3 progress and USDA loan application work. We are diligently pursuing these. We are seeking a “work around” to speed up the 501c3 approval as well. We anticipate an update and potentially good news on the 501c3 by mid September.

Our mission remains the same, to restore nursing home care to the county. This mission is worthy, important, and in the long-term vital for Perkins County. We are going to need a show of public and economic support in the near future. Please prepare to help us. Thank you.
