Area students graduate from Nebraska colleges

College seniors from the Perkins County area have completed their degrees and graduated from colleges across the state.

Five Perkins County students graduated from Mid Plains Community College in North Platte with an assortment of degrees.

Kaden Kammerer of Grant graduated with a degree in Building Construction Technology. Christopher Terry of Grand and Betzy Castellanos of Madrid both graduated with an Associate of Science degree. Valerie Perez of Venango completed her degree in Business (Entrepreneurship). Bryce Grothman, also of Venango, completed his Associate of Arts degree.

NPCC originally planned to celebrate graduation with a commencement ceremony on Friday, May 8. The ceremony, however, has been pushed to July 31 due to COVID-19 concerns.

Two Perkins County students graduated from Central Community College at Hastings. Tyler Thelander of Grant graduated with a degree in Agricultural Sciences. Jack Kennicutt of Madrid completed his degree in Information Technology and Systems.

CCC-Hastings will hold an online commencement celebration on Tuesday, June 2. It will not be a live event. Viewers will be able to view graduate profiles, hear graduate names being read, sign virtual guestbooks and watch videos by the CCC president and 3 Outstanding Alumni Award winners.

Garrett Pollard graduated from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln with a Bachelor of Science in Agricultural Economics from the College of AGricultural Sciences and Natural Resources.

UNL held a virtual ceremony on Saturday, May 9 with a “Dream Big” speech from John Cook, Nebraska volleyball head coach, and appearances from other special guests. 

Graduates are now able to download their digital diplomas to share.

From the Nebraska College of Technical Agriculture at Curtis, two area students completed their schooling. Madisyn Cutler of Elsie and Maisie Kennicutt of Wallace both graduated with a degree in Agricultural Production System.

NCTA held a virtual ceremony Thursday, May 7 presented by NCTA Interim Dean Kelly Bruns.

Kayla Brueggeman of Grant graduated from Northeast Community College in Norfolk with an Associate of Arts degree.

Northeast Community College planned to hold graduation on Saturday, May 16, however due to the current directed health measures in place they were not able to hold an in-person celebration. 

The ceremony was altered to be a virtual ceremony on the same date instead.
