Beck selected as Senior of the Month
The November Senior of the Month honor has been awarded to Michael Beck.
Michael is the son of Doug and Janet Beck of Grant.
Throughout high school, Beck has been involved in school organizations, music, sports and has volunteered his time and talents serving his community.
Beck has participated in FFA and PCYC. He has shared his musical talents participating in marching band, jazz band and the “This Old House” musical production. He also participated in the One Act plays.
Academically, Beck is a letterman, part of National Honor Society and has maintained a 4.0 GPA.
Beck put his athletic abilities to work playing golf, basketball and helped his team to the third round of the 2017 D1 football playoffs.
In addition to his other activities, volunteering in the community and his church filled Beck’s time.
His volunteer services include the Pheasants Forever banquet, Hatch’s golf tournament, Perkins County Fair, Bicycle Ride Across Nebraska (BRAN), Perkins County Alumni banquet, American Red Cross blood drive and Mercy Meals.
Beck participates in annual camps aimed at developing his athletic skills, eduation and faith.
He also attended a Citizen Washington Focus 4-H trip to Washington D.C.
In May 2016, Beck earned the rank of Eagle Scout and was selected to represent the Venango American Legion Post at the Nebraska Cornhusker Boys State in Lincoln.
Beck has worked doing lawn care and at Turn West Farms.
Currently he is spending time in an internship at Great Plains Communications.
After graduation, Beck plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Lincoln and major in business administration.
For being selected Senior of the Month, Beck’s picture will hang in the lobby of Pinnacle Bank in Grant. He will be eligible for a scholarship awarded at the end of the school year.
