College Notes

Kylie Jaques of Grant and Gabriela Gonzalez-Huisenga of Wallace were among seven students from Mid-Plains Community College who attended the 2017 Licensed Practical Nurse Association of Nebraska Fall Convention on Sept. 19 at Pinnacle Arena in Lincoln.

The convention offered a series of educational workshops for nurses and nursing students as well as a trade show. Topics of the educational sessions included compliance, hospice, emotional support and the management of patients with a communicable disease.

 “The students really enjoyed their experience,” said Lana Albrecht-Watson, MPCC nurse educator. “They were the only student representatives in the state at the LPNAN board meeting, where they had the opportunity to observe the election of state officers and were invited into the board’s conversations. They represented MPCC very well.”
