Elsie NPCC student helps with Habitat for Humanity house

Students in the heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC) program at North Platte Community College had the opportunity to give back to the community while gaining real-world experience last week.

They spent Tuesday and Wednesday installing ductwork in a North Platte Area Habitat for Humanity house.

The house is located on West Third Street in North Platte. Once finished, it will provide a safe and affordable home for a low-income family.

Habitat’s goal is to provide a hand up, rather than a hand out to those seeking a decent home of their own. The houses the organization builds are constructed with volunteer labor and sold to qualified families through no profit, no interest loans.
