Flying into the future

Perkins County 7th Grader Caidence Allen watches carefully as she maneuvers a drone around the gym at Perkins County Junior High last Wednesday. Taught by Renee Marquardt and Sophia Jaeger, the seventh graders are learning about robotics, including drones. The students learned such skills as flying the drones with iPads, navigating a circle without moving the iPad’s position, flight patterns, starting and landing on a launch pad, navigating an obstacle course, controlling the drone’s flight without being able to see the actual drone but only the iPad’s camera, and navigating in close quarters while other drones were being flown in that same area.
