The first senior of the month for the 2022-23 school year is Meredith Gloy, daughter of Brent and Angela Gloy of Grant.

Meredith has made the most of her high school career with involvement in extracurricular activities and community service.

She has been a member of the cross country, basketball and track teams, and has participated in FFA, science club and Quiz Bowl.

Outside of school, Meredith has been active in soccer, Methodist Youth Group, and Transition Team.

She has worked on the family farm and as an umpire for the City of Grant youth ball games. Through working on the farm, Meredith said she learned the importance of hard work and accuracy.

“If you don’t work hard and do something correctly the first time, you’ll have to do it again, and it won’t be fun,” she said.

Some of her accomplishments that she is most proud of are qualifying for state cross country and earning an academic letter each year.

“I really enjoy athletics, and I have spent a lot of time practicing during the summer and season to qualify for state, which was extremely exciting,” she said. “I also spend a lot of time focusing on academics, so seeing my hard work pay off by earning academic letters each year is a fulfilling feeling.”

Meredith values the relationships with both students and teachers that she has developed over the four years of high school.

“The people within this school have helped get me to where I am today,” she said.

She also appreciates the support of the community in athletics and activities.

To give back, Meredith has volunteered in church, packed food bags and helped at basketball camps.

After graduation, Meredith plans to attend a four-year college, majoring in a science area on a pre-med track, eventually becoming a doctor.

Senior of the month is sponsored by Pinnacle Bank.
