Gloy named September Senior of the Month
Perkins County High School’s September Pinnacle Bank Senior of the Month is being recognized for her outstanding dedication both in and out of the classroom. Jacqueline Gloy, a standout student and multi-sport athlete, has demonstrated exceptional leadership, academic excellence, and community spirit throughout her high school career.
Throughout Gloy’s four years at PCHS, she has been an active participant in a wide range of activities, including girls golf, basketball, and track and field from grades 9 through 12. She also took part in National Honor Society, FFA, Student Council, the school musical, and Mock Trial. Her commitment to excellence has earned her a spot on the All-A Honor Roll every year since 2022, along with multiple NCPA Academic All-State Awards and numerous varsity letters across sports.
Among Gloy’s many achievements, one accomplishment stands out most vividly. “One of my proudest accomplishments while being here would be receiving my State FFA Degree this past year,” she shared. “FFA has given me the opportunity to learn and advance my passion for agriculture. Receiving my state degree signified the hard work and dedication toward my projects. I am the third generation in my family to receive my state degree, and to be able to share that moment with my dad and grandfather was pretty special.”
In addition to serving as FFA Chapter Treasurer Gloy’s junior year and Vice President her senior year, she also holds leadership roles as Student Council Secretary. Her involvement in school has been matched by her engagement in the broader community, participating in United Methodist Youth Group, the Teammates Mentoring Program, and serving as a delegate to the Nebraska Agriculture Youth Institute.
When reflecting on her time at Perkins County, Gloy says what she values most are the people and connections she’s made. “While it might sound cliché to say, I think the thing that I value the most from my high school experience is the relationships and connections I have made,” she said. “Whether it be my agriculture teachers or my classmates who are my best friends, all of them have made an impact on who I have become.”
Gloy added that the community’s support has been a defining part of her experience. “Community members uplifting me after a bad game or tournament truly shows how great our community is and how easy it is to form great relationships here in Grant,” she said. “Throughout different camps and conferences, I’ve met people from across the state who have helped me become a better leader and communicator. That’s why the relationships I’ve formed over the last three years are the one thing I value the most.”
That deep appreciation for community perfectly reflects Pinnacle Bank’s own values. “My identity has not only been shaped by personal ambition, but by the people, values, and experiences from this community,” Gloy said. “The wonderful people in Grant have shown me how great it feels to be supported and surrounded by people who care and truly want the best for you. All of the support that I have received throughout high school only makes me want to continue to volunteer and give back to the community that has always supported me.”
Whether helping with local events such as the Chamber of Commerce Easter Egg Hunt or watering trees at the ballfields, Gloy says small acts of service matter most. “I love giving back to our community,” she said. “As I prepare for college, I will carry the lessons and memories that this community has blessed me with wherever I go.”
After graduation, Gloy plans to continue pursuing her passion for agriculture. “After I graduate from Perkins County, I plan to attend a four-year institution, majoring in Agribusiness,” she explained. “While I haven’t pinpointed exactly where I’ll spend the next four years, I’m focusing on programs at Purdue, the University of Nebraska–Lincoln, and Iowa State. Over the past few years, I’ve grown to love the agriculture industry and want to stay connected no matter where I attend school. Eventually, I plan to move back and continue farming in Grant, Nebraska.
With Gloy’s deep roots in the community and clear vision for the future, the September Pinnacle Bank Senior of the Month embodies the leadership, dedication, and heart that define Perkins County students.
For being selected Senior of the Month, Gloy's picture will be displayed in the lobby of Pinnacle Bank in Grant and she will be eligible for a scholarship awarded at the end of the school year.
The Student of the Month and scholarship program are sponsored by Pinnacle Bank of Grant and members of the community.
