Hanson selected as Senior of the Month

The December Senior of the Month honor has been awarded to Kadie Hanson.

Kadie is the daughter of Jill and Scott Hanson.

Throughout her four years of high school, Hanson has dedicated her time to multiple organizations, sports and serving her community.

Academically, Hanson has made honor roll for four years, has lettered three years and is part of National Honor Society.

Hanson has participated in FCA for four years and served as a leader for three. She has done PCYC for four years, serving as president her junior and senior years. She has done 42 hours of community service from PCYC. 

As a four-year FCCLA participant, Hanson served as vice president her junior year and president her senior year. As a freshman, Hanson attended the FCCLA Nebraska state convention in parliamentary procedure and received silver state Champion. 

Speech has been a focus of Hanson’s time as she participated for four years in duet, OID and poetry, in which she lettered three years. 

She put her musical talents to use as part of the high school chorus and swing choir, receiving a letter in each.

Hanson served her fellow students on student council for four years, serving as president her junior and senior years. 

As an athlete, Hanson thrived on the court, playing high school volleyball and lettering four years and playing club volleyball for three. 

She received SPVA volleyball honorable mention one year and Keith County all-area volleyball second team one year. 

Two to three volleyball camps per year, helped Hanson hone her athletic skills and thrive in her favorite sport.

In addition to her school commitments, Hanson has dedicated time to serving her community with a long list of activities including Vacation Bible School, park cleanup, blood drive and coaching t-ball. 

She has also created time to work with her family’s business, Ogallala Natural Beef, Southwest Nebraska Betterment Corporation, WinDesigns and Grant Pharmacy.

After graduation, Hanson plans to attend the University of Nebraska at Kearney, majoring in business administration with a concentration in accounting. 

She plans to stay at UNK for a fifth year to obtain her master’s degree and take the Certified Public Accountant’s exam. 

For being selected Senior of the Month, Hanson’s picture will hang in the lobby of Pinnacle Bank in Grant. 

She will be eligible for a scholarship awarded at the end of the school year.

The Student of the Month and scholarship program are sponsored by Pinnacle Bank of Grant and members of the community.
