Johnson selected as May senior

The May Senior of the Month honor has been awarded to Charles Johnson.

Johnson is the son of Tim and Lori Johnson.

For the last four years, Johnson has dedicated time not only to academics at Perkins County High School, but also several extra curricular activities and his community.

Johnson was honored with a trip to Boys State and has been a part of FFA for four years. He has received his Chapter Degree and Green-hand award. He also competed in State FFA in 2015, 2016 and 2017. 

His academic effort has earned him membership in National Honor Society.

Johnson’s art skills were awarded with first place in the Third Congressional District Art Competition in which his work was displayed at the U.S. Capitol is Washington D.C.

As an athlete, Johnson displayed his skills on the football field, basketball court and track, lettering in all three sports. 

Johnson served as football team captain. He was awarded with All D1-10 District Team Honorable Mention, All D1-10 District Team QB and Lincoln Journal Star and Omaha World Herald All State Honorable Mention. 

As a basketball player, Johnson received SPVA Honorable Mention and was named to SPVA first team, All-Area Second Team Keith Co. News, and received the NCPA Academic All-State Award.

Johnson also received the NCPA Academic All-State Award in track. 

In addition to his school and sport commitments, Johnson has dedicated time to his community through Eagle Scouts, Vacation Bible School, Adopt a Highway and more.

He has been employed by Walking 7 Feed Lot, Burge Farms and Matt Waitley working with farm equipment, care of cattle, fencing and brandings. 

For being selected Senior of the Month, Johnson’s picture will hang in the lobby of Pinnacle Bank in Grant. He will be eligible for a scholarship awarded at the end of the school year.
