PC Quiz Bowl takes second at opener

Perkins County went 4-2 to place second at the Perkins County High School Quiz Bowl Invite on Thursday, Feb. 7.  

PC Coach Deanne Bishop said the purpose of this early-season tournament to was to get a lot of practice time for their young team. Six of the 10 players are new to high school quiz bowl. Each member competed in at least three of the six rounds of action.  

Eight people rang in on toss-ups. Six members answered at least one toss-up question correctly. All members contributed to at least one bonus question. 

Bishop said this kind of participation was huge for such a young squad.

South Platte went 5-1 to win the tournament.

Other school competing included Ogallala and Wauneta-Palisade.

Perkins County High School Quiz Bowl team Members include:  Jacob Woodmancy (captain), Matthew Wendell, Peyton Woodmancy, Keegan Sims, Jeb Kohl, Hailey Snyder, Ethan Terry, Brandon Knoles, Meghan Bishop and Josh Malmkar.

PC loses to S. Platte:  30-35

PC defeats Ogallala:  50-5

PC defeats Wauneta-Palisade:  30-5

PC loses to South Platte:  25-35

PC defeats Ogallala:  90-15

PC defeats Wauneta-Palisade:  30-20

Next action

The next competition will be the Hershey Invite on Tuesday, Feb. 26 at 3 p.m. MT.
