PC speech team gears up for SPVA

The Perkins County speech team traveled to Ogallala Saturday, Feb. 20.

18 schools were in attendance from Classes B, C1, C2, D1 and D2.

Nine students in seven entries earned medals Saturday. 22 students from Perkins County competed in Ogallala.

The team’s next meet will be Saturday, Feb. 27 in Sutherland. Students will be allowed to invite two spectators to view their performances.

The team will also hold another home public performance Sunday, Feb. 28 in Pritchett gym.

The SPVA speech meet will be Monday, March 1 in Sutherland, followed by the district meet Monday, March 8 in Hemingford.

• Poetry: Summer Postlewait, 9th (3rd - Honors)

• Informative: Rylee Huff, 6th (6th - Championship)

• Persuasive: Meghan Bishop, 3rd (3rd - Championship); Gavin Smith, 7th (1st - Honors)

• Duet: Jeb Kohl and Meghan Bishop, 7th (1st - Honors)

• OID: Sophia Perez, Meghan Bishop, Triston Hite, Blake Dolezal and Jeb Kohl, 5th (5th - Championship)
