PCS assessment results above state average

In April, Perkins County School juniors joined other juniors from around the state in taking the now required ACT.

Starting this past spring, the Nebraska Department of Education began making several major transitions in terms of the assessments given to third through eighth grade students and juniors to measure progress.

Nicole Long, PCS elementary principal, presented PCS 2016-17 assessment results to the school board, explaining the changes that have and will be taking place in testing.

Long said the juniors did very well on the ACT, scoring an average of 21.5 on the composite score, compared to the state average at 19.3.

Superintendent Phillip Picquet said to keep in mind juniors haven’t had the full curriculum needed for the test, so they were pleased with these scores.
