PCS fourth graders take field trip to Lincoln

Perkins County fourth graders took a trip to Lincoln on March 6 where they visited Memorial Stadium, Morrill Hall and Senator Dan Hughes of Venango at the Capitol.

Fourth graders Cecilia Putnam, Myles Bishop, Kyson Dilsaver and Alec Reese shared details of their trip with the Perkins County School Board at their recent meeting on March 19.

They spoke of seeing the dinosaur bones in Morrill Hall and watching a bill be introduced in the legislature.

They enjoyed eating lunch with Sen. Hughes—his favorite, Papa John’s pizza.

They got to run on Tom Osborne field inside Memorial Stadium.

Cecilia said her favorite part of the trip was the Capitol, because of how old it is, but “probably every part of the trip” she liked.

Myles said after a long trip, it was nice to be able to run on Tom Osborne Field because “to be honest, I don’t think I’ll ever get that experience again.”

Kyson and Alec said Memorial Stadium was their favorite.

Elementary Principal Nicole Long said everybody came back excited and it was an excellent opportunity.

Superintendent Phillip Picquet said he talked to Sen. Hughes, who was very happy they came to visit.

Cecilia said the senator was most excited to see his granddaughter.

Parent sponsor Jeff Dilsaver said two state troopers and a senator told him that this was one of the most respectful fourth grade classes they’d seen this year.

“Our kids represented Perkins County very well on the trip. I’m proud of them,” said Long.
