Perkins County FFA sends 28 to state

The Perkins County FFA chapter sent 28 members to State FFA this week, April 3-6. 

Students will be involved with contests including natural resources, agricultural mechanics, agriscience, farm management, nursery and landscape, food science, agronomy, welding, meats evaluation, and junior livestock evaluation.  

They are also presenting a Hall of Chapters display highlighting Perkins County and their FFA chapter.  

Members will be helping with the convention by working with the Courtesy Corp as helpers to the State FFA staff.  

The chapter will present its sixth Katie Rowley and Michael Dreiling New Chapter Memorial Scholarship to the new Osmond FFA Chapter.  

A new activity this year that  Perkins County members will participate in is the Living to Serve project. Perkins County members will be assisting over 300 FFA members in preparing thousands of meals for the Food Bank of Omaha and the Bood Bank of the Heartland.  

Members will also participate in leadership seminars and attend main sessions of the convention having the opportunity to hear keynote speakers and listen to political and industry leaders.  

Thursday evening all members will attend the University of Nebraska “Rock the Rec” at the UNL rec center for an evening of games and fun.  The chapter will return home on Friday evening.
