Plainsmen FFA shines at CDE’s

On October 8, Perkins County FFA departed from the high school at 4:30 AM to compete in Valentine, Nebraska in FFA’s District 9 Career Development Events (CDEs). At this competition, students competed in Livestock Judging, Farm and Agribusiness Management, and Agronomy contests. Perkins County FFA is proud to have had all competitors place in the top 50 out of 86 total competitors in Senior Livestock Judging. Jordin Lenhart placed 6th overall, Tanner Paintin placed 28th, Ryan Long placed 31st, and Levi Nolt placed 48th. In the area of Junior Livestock Judging, 135 total FFA members competed at the district contest. Perkins County’s results are as follows: Wyatt McCloskey - 9th, Kinley Richmond - 53d, Lila Hill - 63rd, Jaymee Harger - 70th, Mya Deaver - 83rd, Alyssa Laber - 85th, Jesus Marquez - 130th. Perkins County’s Farm and Agribusiness Management team studied hard and got the win a second year in a row with almost half of the team placing in the top 10. The team earned first place and individual results are as follows: Jacqueline Gloy - 1st, Hannah Bishop - 5th, Grant Gloy - 7th, Ethan Gonzalez - 13th, Grayson Baumgartner - 24th, and Tyson Schwanebeck - 32nd. Perkins County’s Agronomy team also nabbed a first place medal for the second year in a row. All individuals in this contest placed in the top 20 and the team also took home first and second place in the individual rankings. Individuals include: Anley Sauder - 1st, Cooper Kroeker - 2nd, Rylee Schrotberger - 5th, Colton Kroeker - 18th.
