Quiz Bowl team second at Hershey tournament

The Perkins County High School Quiz Bowl Team competed in the Hershey Quiz Bowl tournament Tuesday, Feb. 28. 

Out of nine participating varsity teams, PC earned second place. 

Other participating schools were Hershey, Stapleton, Paxton, North Platte St. Pat’s, Sutherland, Ogallala, Arthur and South Platte. 

Perkins County finished 3-1 on the day, losing only to Paxton, 15-20.

Perkins County beat Arthur 40-20; Ogallala 35-5 and Sutherland 20-15 in overtime.

Competing team members include Jacob Woodmancy (captain), Nathan Kemling, Chris Terry, Karen Ruiz, Jaci Kurkowski, Kenyon Gaar, Bryce Grothman, Jack Kohl, Zach Malmkar and Matthew Wendell.

All students competed in at least two rounds of action. Six students correctly answered at least one toss-up question during the competition. 

The next tournament will be the SPVA Conference Quiz Bowl Tournament held in Hershey on Thursday, March 16 at 2 p.m. MST.
