Ruiz to be featured in art exhibit

Karen Ruiz, a Perkins County senior, was selected to show three photographs in the Nebraska Wesleyan University Art Scholarship Event and Exhibit.
“When I first found out that my work had been chosen I got really excited. I had just some bad news beforehand so this cheered me up,” Ruiz said.
“I had been really nervous when I submitted my entry and I’m still kind of nervous. Mostly though I’m happy and hopeful. Having my work chosen means that I get a $4,000 scholarship ($1,000 each year). If I am chosen as one of the top I get a $10,000 scholarship ($2,500 per year). This to me is very helpful since college is very very expensive,” she added.
