School board approves vocal music teacher contract

Perkins County Schools board met on Monday, May 15 and approved a contract for the 2017-18 school year with Mr. Conrad Gachne for the K-12 vocal music teacher position. 

His previous position was the 5-12 band director in Holcomb, Kansas. 

Superintendent Phillip Piquet said the bleachers at the football field were to be finished last week.

Breakfast and lunch prices were increased by 10 cents for the 2017-18 school year, making elementary and secondary breakfast $1.70; adult breakfast $2.20; elementary lunch $2.65; secondary lunch $2.95; and adult lunch $3.70. 

The board is continuing to review board policies from KSB School Law. At this meeting, they approved Admission of Students, Admission of Part Time Students, Admission of Students who Reside Out of the State of Nebraska, Option Enrollment, Transportation of Option Students, Foreign Exchange Students, Enrollment of Expelled Students, Married and/or Pregnant Students, Adult Education, Immunizations, Physical Examination and Visual Evaluation of Students, Testing and Assessment Program, Homeless Students and Protection of Pupil Rights.

In approving the admission of out-of-state students, the board decided to charge tuition at $6,000 per semester. 

A bid was approved for $18,834.78 to replace the elementary school roof.  

The next meeting will be held Monday, June 17 at 7 p.m.
