Derek Sis

Sis is chosen as April’s senior of the month

With a passion for sports and competition of any kind, Derek Sis has made his mark at Perkins County High School and beyond.

He has been a member of the football, basketball and track teams all four years of high school. He has received many accolades for his athletic achievements, and holds a school record in the 100 meter dash. 

He has been selected to participate in the West Nebraska All-Star game in Scottsbluff and the Nebraska eight-man football coaches association football game this summer.

Sis has a 4.0 grade point average and is a member of National Honor Society.

Aside from athletic and academic pursuits, Sis has participated in music and drama, and has been active in the community.

He was an American Legion Boys Stater, he has volunteered at the Elsie blood drive, participated in the 4-H Focus trip, has served refreshments at church and volunteered at the Elsie Easter Egg Hunt.

His work history includes employment at an auto repair shop and the family business.

After graduation, Sis plans pursue a physical therapy degree at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

For being selected Senior of the Month, Sis’s picture will be on display in the lobby of Pinnacle Bank in Grant and he will be eligible for a scholarship awarded at the end of the school year.

The Student of the Month and scholarship program are sponsored by Pinnacle Bank of Grant and members of the community.
