Each year, approximately 3,000 of the best high school musicians in the state audition for the Nebraska All-State Band, Chorus, Jazz Band, and Orchestra which are sponsored by the Nebraska Music Education Association. Selection as a member of one of these groups is one of the highest music honors attainable in Nebraska.

Micah Swedberg, a senior at Wallace High School, was among the 440 students selected to be a part of the 2018 All-State Choir. He was among an elite group that was recognized at the concert for being selected to be in the All-State Choir all three years of eligibility. The students rehearsed Wednesday, Nov. 14 through Friday, Nov. 16 before performing the final public concert in the Lied Center on Friday afternoon.

The guest conductor for the group was Dr. Randall Stroope, an American composer, conductor, and lecturer. Dr. Stroope, a professor at Oklahoma State University, has been a guest conductor throughout the world as well as conducting for 44 different All-State choirs.
