TeamMates program needing mentors

The Perkins County Schools is looking for more mentors. Coordinator Larry Pritchett said they have had a good recruiting year, but are still one or two men short, and would also like to have some extras lined up.

“It is not unusual to have some students decide at the beginning of the year to decide they want to participate, so it would be nice to have  a few extra mentors trained to be ready to fill the shortage,” said Pritchett.

The program will have about 60 students involved this year. Pritchett said while the mentee pool seems to be growing, the mentor pool seems to be shrinking.

“Thirty minutes a week to possibly help a student for the rest of their lives! Not too bad a way to spend your time if you ask me!”

Those interested in making a difference in a young person’s life can contact Pritchett at the high school. Call 308-352-4735 or 308-352-8365.
