Three Wallace students headed to state speech

The Wallace speech team competed at the D1-5 district competition Monday, March 8 at Callaway. Three of Wallace’s students will move on to state.

Schools in attendance Monday were Anselmo-Merna, Brady, Callaway, Hitchcock County, Humphrey, Southwest, Stapleton, Wallace and Wauneta-Palisade.

11 students from Wallace made it to the final round at districts across seven events.

As a team, Wallace placed third with a total of 102 points. Stapleton placed second with 230 points, and Humphrey earned the title of District Champion with 294 points.

Three Wallace students placed high enough to compete at state: Ashlyn Robinson, Brylie Robinson and Aidan McClintock.

The state meet will be Friday, March 19 at Kearney.

District Final Results

• Persuasive: Brylie Robinson, 2nd; Aidan McClintock, 4th

• Extemporaneous: Ashlyn Robinson, 2nd; Aidan McClintock, 3rd

• Humorous: Joey Ledbetter, 5th

• Duet: Trey Robertson and Reagan Pelster, 5th

• OID: Anggelica Vazquez, Morgan Lungrin, Mariah Gardner, Jennifer Silva and Brooke Bryant.
