Tjaden is April Senior of the Month
Dawson Tjaden is April’s Pinnacle Bank Senior of the Month. Tjaden is the son of Tara Tjaden and Darin Tjaden. He resides in Grant, NE and attends Perkins County High School.
Tjaden has been involved in several sports in high school. He played football throughout all four years as well as participated on the track team. He played basketball for three of the four years in highschool, due to participating in wrestling his junior year. Tjaden is also a member of the National Honors Society since he was inducted his junior year. Tjaden was also on the A and B Honor roll during freshman and sophomore years. He values relationships with his peers and teachers at school. “My biggest accomplishment while living in Perkins County and attending high school here would have to be all the wonderful people I met and the relationships I made. I wouldn’t have made it out of school in the shape I am without the great people. The teachers and the great sporting programs have by far been my favorite experience. They help keep the kids active and make sure they are doing good in their everyday lives,” said Tjaden.
Outside of the classroom and school activities, Tjaden participates in FCA and has been since he was a sophomore. He also attended the E-Free Church Youth Group for two years. He also has his own business doing lawn care with his cousin Jackson Wykert. They began the business during their freshman year and are still working together today. He says “My cousin and I started a business when we were freshman. To this day the business is still going strong. It has been a very good job because I learned how to properly communicate and deal with people’s wants. It has been good for me to do these things for the future.”
Tjaden values small town living and has had over 60 community service hours during his high school years. He says, “In my opinion there is nothing better than growing up in a small town and living there your whole life. You make some great relationships and meet tons of great people along the way. You can ask about anyone in the community for advice, it is awesome stuff like that that makes living in a small town great.”
After high school, Tjaden plans to attend the University of Nebraska - Kearney and earn a degree in accounting. He hopes to play football there as well.
For being selected Senior of the Month, Tjaden’s picture will hang in the lobby of Pinnacle Bank in Grant and he will be eligible for a scholarship awarded at the end of the school year.
The Student of the Month and scholarship program are sponsored jointly by community members and Pinnacle Bank in Grant
