Wallace speech team earns third at Southwest Invitational

Wallace’s speech team earned third place overall with 17 points at the Southwest Invitational at Bartley on Saturday, Feb. 29.

McCook finished in second with 55 points and Sutherland placed first with 75 points.

The team had seven events earn medals, and three students medaled in more than one event.

At North Platte’s Best of the West meet on Saturday, Mar. 7, Wallace brought two students, as others chose to spend spring break with their families.

Each category had nearly 80 students participating, and the meet was highly competitive.

The district meet scheduled for Monday, Mar. 16 and state speech meet on Friday, Mar. 27 have been postponed by the NSAA due to concerns about the coronavirus.
