Perkins County juniors Emma Klahn and Ella Uehling have once again created a successful Ag Day for many children in Perkins County.

“Emma and I both agree that the event was extremely successful this year, and we are so pleased with the community involvement,” Uehling said.

On June 2 and 3, the two held their 2nd annual Ag Day at Perkins County High School, attracting more than 70 children from the area. The main focus for this year’s event were food chains and food cycles, Uehling said.

The two girls came up with the idea for Ag Day last year as a supervised agricultural experience, or SAE, which is a requirement to earn degrees in FFA at Perkins County High School, Uehling said.

“We chose Ag Day because we wanted to inform elementary students about agricluture and how it can relate to our daily lives,” Uehling said.

Each year the two young ladies have spent over 60 hours preparing for AG Day, Uehling said. AG Day 2021 had 45 registrations and AG Day 2022 had 69 registrations. Assisting Uehling and Klahn this year were 12 Pekrins County FFA members, who volunteered to help.
