Youth art to be exhibited at Capitol

During the month of March, the Nebraska Art Teachers Association host an exhibit of student work which demonstrates the state standards for Art. To help draw attention to Youth Art Month across the nations, this exhibit will be taking place from March 17-30 in the State Capitol in Lincoln.  

A reception and program will be held Saturday, March 30, 2 p.m. CT, with freshman Kai Colgrove and Sophia Perez representing Perkins County Schools. 

Colgrove’s artwork is a pen and Ink Crosshatching problem focusing on the Roman Arch. Perez’ collage is an original design using positive-negative shape based on a Gothic Cathedral.

The public is also invited to Meadowlark Gallery to see the Perkins County Schools Youth Art Month Exhibit for High School. Grades 7-12 will be displayed through March 9 and the elementary grades will be displayed from March 15-30.
